Astrology has three principal branches today, namely Western astrology, astrology of Indian or Jyotish, and Asian Chinese astrology. The study of astrology and the belief in it, as an element of astronomy, are initially found in a form developed among the ancient Babylonians; and directly or indirectly by the Babylonians, it deviated with other nations. It came to Greece about the medium 4th century B.C., and reached Rome before the arrival of the Christian era. In India and China, astronomy and astrology developed mainly independently. With the introduction of the Greek culture in Egypt, astronomy and astrology were actively cultivated in the area of the Nile for the hellenistic and Roman periods. Astrology was still developed by the Arabs of 7th at the 13th century, and in Europe of the 14èmes and 15èmes centuries the astrologers dominated of the influences at the court. Mayans of the Central America and Aztecs also developed their own form of astrology. Other cultures and civilizations around the world also developed their own astrological systems independently. The astrology and the astronomy of limits a long time were closely dependent. An astrologer is an interpreter of the celestial phenomena, whereas an astronomer is a predictive factor of celestial phenomena. Astrology itself can be divided into two camps, consisted of “the normal astrologers” who it study the movements of the marvellous bodies, synchronization of the eclipses, etc “astrologers legal” study the correlations supposed between the positions of various heavenly objects and the businesses of the human beings. During the last century while astrology gained the popularity spread with general public, its detractors became more and more more vocal against him.
The influence of Medici made astrologers popular to France. Richelieu, on whom the council was Jacques Gaffarel (1601-1681), the end of Kabbalists, did not scorn astrology like engine of government. At the birth of Louis XIV certain Morin de Villefranche behind a curtain to mould the nativity future autocrat was placed. A back of generation the astrologer would not have been hidden behind a curtain, but had the priority above the doctor. The Heather dares not to pronounce against such a belief, “for there confuse facts affirmed by the serious men who were eyewitnesses. ” In England William Lilly and Robert Fludd both were equipped in a little with short authority. The last gives us rules refined for the detection of a robber, and indicates to us that it had personal experience of their effectiveness. “If the lord of the sixth house is found in the second house, or with the company with the lord of the second house, the robber is one of the family. If mercury is in the sign of the scorpion which he will be bald person, &c. ” Francis Bacon maltreats the astrologers of his day no least that the alchemists, but it thus because it has visions of a reformed astrology and a reformed alchemy. Mr Thomas Browne, also, whereas it denies the capacity of the astrologers of its day, does not try to dispute the reality of science. The idea of the hearts of the men passing to died to holds the first role, the bliss of their particular sphere being assigned them according to their deserts (the metempsychosis of J. Reynaud), can be regarded as survival of religious astrology, that, even while late like day of Descartes, assigned with the angels to charge it with moving planets and holds the first role. Joseph de Maistre believed in comets as messengers of divine justice, and in animated planets, and declared that the divination by astrology is not an absolutely chimerical science. Kepler was careful in his opinion; he spoke about astronomy as the wise mother, and an astrology as a girl idiot, but he added that the existence of the girl was necessary life of the mother. Kepler can have said this with the cynical significance that the “idiotic” work of astrology paid the serious work of astronomy - as, when, the principal motivation to place advances in astronomy was the desire for better, of the more precise astrological forecasts.
